CORE BELIEFS

The following are the core beliefs of Faith based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

THE SCRIPTURES

We believe that the Holy Bible, as originally written, was verbally inspired and the product of spirit-controlled men, therefore, is truth without any mixture of error for its matter. We believe the Bible to be the true center of the Christian union and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions shall be tried.

2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:19-21

THE TRUE GOD

We believe there is one and only one living and true God, and infinite Spirit, the Maker and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth; inexpressibly glorious in holiness, and worthy of all possible honor, confidence and love; that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, equal in every divine perfection, and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of the redemption.

Exodus 20:2, 3; 1 John 5:7; 1 Corinthians 8:4-6; Revelation 4:11

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person; with God the Father and God the Son and of the same nature; that He was active in the creation; that in His relation to the unbelieving world He restrains the evil one until God’s purpose is fulfilled; that He convicts of sin, of righteousness, and of judgement; that He bears witness to the Truth of the Gospel in preaching and testimony, that He is the agent of the New Birth; and that he seals, endues, guides, teaches, witnesses, sanctifies, and helps the believer.

John 14:16, 17; Matt. 28:19; Heb. 9:14; John 14:26; Luke 1:35; John 1:33; Acts 11:16; Luke 24:49; Rom. 8:16; Rom 8:26, 27; Gen. 1: 1-3; John 16:8-11; Acts 5:30-32; John 3:5, 6; Eph. 1:13, 14; Mark 1:8

JESUS, THE CHRIST

We believe Jesus Christ to be the one and only Saviour of mankind. We believe Jesus Christ to be eternally God and to possess all attributes of Deity. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ was virgin-born, that He is God incarnate, and that the purposes of the incarnation were to reveal God, to redeem men, and to rule over God’s kingdom. We believe Jesus Christ never relinquished any attributes of His Deity, but merely veiled them. We believe he lived a perfect, sinless life, at the end of which He was offered for all mankind as a substitutionary sacrifice for man’s sin. The sacrifice was a just payment to God for the forgiveness of sin. It was activated by His death through the shedding of His blood on the cross and was accepted by God upon His resurrection. We believe He ascended into Heaven after His resurrection to be seated at the right hand of the Father and is now waiting for the time of receiving His church at the rapture, which is followed by His return seven years later to earth to rule and reign as King for 1,000 years.

Psalm 2:7-9; Isaiah 7:14, 9:6, 43:11; Micah 5:2; Matthew 1:25; Luke 1:26-35; John 1:1, 1:3, 14, 18, 29; Romans 3:19-25, 5:6-15; Philippians 2:5-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Timothy 2:5, 3:16; Titus 2:10-15; Hebrews 7:26, 9:24-28; 1 Peter 1:19, 2:2; 1 John 1:3; Revelation 20:1-6

THE DEVIL

We believe in the real personality of Satan, that he is a created angelic being. He was created as Lucifer who aspired to set up a kingdom to oppose the one true God. Satan is the author of all the powers of darkness he was instrumental in ushering sin into mankind by tempting Eve to be as a god. Through the Revelation of Scripture, we are confident that Satan is destined to the judgement of an eternal justice in the lake of fire.

Matthew 4:10; Isaiah 14:12; Genesis 3:5; Revelation 20:10

CREATION

We accept the Genesis account of creation that God created the Heavens and Earth and all the contents there of in six literal days. He created everything perfect without flaw. We do not believe in a gap theory. We believe God created man through a direct act of creation not by the random acts of evolution.

Genesis 1 & 2; Col. 1:16, 17; John 1:3

THE FALL OF MAN

We believe that man was created in innocence under the law of his Maker, but by voluntary transgression fell from his sinless and happy state in consequence of which all mankind are now sinners, not only constraint, but of choice; and therefore, under just condemnation without defense of excuse.

Genesis 3:1-6, 24; Romans 5:12; Romans 5:10-19; Romans 1:18; Romans 1:32

THE VIRGIN BIRTH

We believe that Jesus was begotten of the Holy Ghost in a miraculous manner, born of Mary, a virgin, as no other man was ever born or can ever be born of woman, and that He is both the Son of God and God, the Son.

Genesis 3:15; Isa. 7:14; Matt. 1:18-25; Luke 1:35; John 1:4

THE ATONEMENT FOR SIN

We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace; through the mediatorial offices of the Son of God, who by the appointment of the Father, freely took upon Him our nature, yet without sin, honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and by His death made a full and vicarious atonement for our sins. His atonement consisted not in setting us an example by His death as a martyr, but as a voluntary substitution of Himself in the sinner’s place, the just dying for the unjust. Christ, the Lord, bearing our sin in His own body on the cross, that having risen from the dead, He is now enthroned in Heaven, and uniting in His wonderful person the tenderest sympathies with divine perfection. He is in every way qualified to be a suitable, a compassionate and an all-sufficient Savior.

Eph. 2:8; Acts 15:1-11; Rom. 3:24; John 3:16; Matt. 18:11; Phil. 2:7; Heb. 2:14; Isa. 53:4-7; Rom. 3:25; 1 John 4:10; 1 Cor. 15:3; 2 Cor. 5:21

GRACE IN THE NEW CREATION

We believe that in order to be saved, sinners must be born again; that the new birth is a new creation of Christ Jesus; that it is instantaneous and not a process. In the new birth the one dead in trespasses and in sins is made a partaker of the divine nature and receives eternal life, in the free gift of God. The new creation is brought about in a manner above our comprehension, solely by the power of the Holy Spirit in connection with divine truth, so as to secure our voluntary obedience to the Gospel; that its proper evidence appears in the holy fruits of repentance, faith and newness of life.

John 3:3; 2 Cor. 5:17; 1 John 5:1; John 3:6, 7; Acts 16:30-33; 2 Peter 1:4; Rom. 6:23; Eph. 2:1; 2 Cor 5:19; Col. 2:13; John 3:8

JUSTIFICATION

We believe that the great Gospel blessing which Christ secures to such as believe in Him is Justification;

That Justification includes the pardon of sin, and the gift of eternal life, on principles of righteousness;

That it is bestowed not in consideration of any works of righteousness which we have done; but solely through faith in the Redeemer’s blood, His righteousness is imputed to us.

Acts 13:39; Isaiah 53:11; Zech. 13:1; Rom. 8:1; Rom. 5:1 & 9

FAITH AND SALVATION

We believe that faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and repentance are the only conditions of salvation. (Acts 16:31); Saving faith through the hearing of the Gospel (Rom. 10:17) which brings Godly sorrow, repentance, then salvation. (2 Cor. 7: 9, 10).

THE LOCAL CHURCH

We believe that a local church is a congregation of immersed believers associated by covenant of faith and fellowship of the Gospel. Observing the ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws, and exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word. Its officers are Pastors, and Deacons, whose qualifications, claims, and duties, are clearly defined in the Scriptures; we believe the true mission of the church is the faithful witnessing of Christ to all men as we have the opportunity. We hold that the local church has the absolute right of self-government free from the interference of any hierarchy of individuals or organizations; and that the one and only superintendent is Christ through the Holy Ghost. It is scriptural for true churches to cooperate with each other in contending for the faith and for the furtherance of the Gospel. Each local church is the sole judge of the measure and method of its cooperation; on all matters of membership, of policy, of government, of discipline, of benevolence, the will of the local church is final.

Acts 2:41, 41; 1 Cor. 11:2; Eph. 1:22, 23; Eph. 4:11; Acts 20:17-28; 1 Tim. 3:17; Col. 1:8; Eph. 5:23, 24; Acts 15:13-18.

BAPTISM AND THE LORD’S SUPPER

We believe that Christian Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water to show forth in a solemn and beautiful emblem our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior, with its effect in our death to sin and resurrection to a new life; that it is prerequisite to the privileges of a church relation. We believe that the Lord’s Supper is the commemoration of His death, until He comes, and should be preceded always by solemn self-examination.

Acts 8:26-39; John 3:23; Rom. 6:3-5; Matt. 3:16; Col. 2:12; 1 Cor. 11:23-28.

SECURITY OF THE SAINTS

We believe that all who are truly born again are kept by God the Father for Jesus Christ.

Phil. 1:6; John 10:28, 29; Rom. 8:35-39; Jude 1

THE RIGHTEOUS AND THE WICKED

We believe that there is a radical, essential difference between the righteous and the wicked; that such only as through faith are justified in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and sanctified by the Holy Spirit of our God, are truly righteous in His esteem. While all such as continue in impenitence and unbelief are in His sight wicked, and under the curse; and His distinction holds among men both in and after death, in the everlasting felicity of the saved and the everlasting conscious suffering of the lost.

Mal. 3:18; Gen. 18:23; Rom. 6:17, 18; 1 John 5:19; Rom. 6:23; Prov. 14:32; Luke 6:24; Matt. 25; 34-41; John 8:21; Rom. 7:6.

CIVIL GOVERNMENT

We believe that civil government is of divine appointment for the interests and good order of human society. That magistrates are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored, and obeyed, except in things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ who is the only Lord of the conscience, and the coming Prince of the kings of the earth.

Rom. 13:1-7; 2 Sam. 23:3; Ex. 18:21, 22; Acts 23:5; Matt. 22:21; Acts 5:20; Acts 4:19, 20; Dan. 3:17, 18.

Family and Humanities
Traditional Family Defined

We believe in and supports the traditional family as outlined in the Bible. Traditional family refers to the make-up of the family consisting of one man and one woman joined together by marriage as explained in the Bible. We believe that any and all forms of adultery and/or fornication hinder the cause of Christ and weaken the testimony of the Church.

Genesis 2:24; Romans 7:2; 1Corinthians 7:10; Ephesians 5:22-23

Human Sexuality

With neither malice nor prejudice towards any one individual, we believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex. We believe that God disapproves of and forbids any attempt to alter one’s gender by surgery or appearance.

Genesis 2:24, 19:5,13, 26:8-9; Leviticus 18:1-30; Romans 1:26-29; 1 Corinthians 5:1; 6:9; 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8; Hebrews13:4

Abortion

We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being. Abortion constitutes the unjustified, unexcused taking of unborn human life. Abortion is murder. We reject any teaching that abortions of pregnancies due to rape, incest, birth defects, gender selection, birth or population control, or the physical or mental well-being of the mother are acceptable.

Exodus 20:13, 23:7; Matthew 5:21; Acts 17:28

Euthanasia

We believe that the direct taking of an innocent human life is a moral evil, regardless of the intention. Life is a gift of God and must be respected from conception until natural death. Thus, we believe that an act or omission which, of itself or by intention, causes death in order to eliminate suffering constitutes a murder contrary to the will of God. Discontinuing medical procedures that are extraordinary or disproportionate to the expected outcome can be a legitimate refusal of overzealous treatment.

Exodus 20:13, 23:7; Matthew 5:21; Acts 17:28
