1. How long are services? Most services are right around one hour to an hour and fifteen minutes.
2. What about kids? You children are welcome in the main services. We also have Children's Small Groups on Sunday morning and Children's Church during the Morning Worship Service.
3. What is service like? We have a more casual environment to our services. We sing a mix of traditional hymns and choruses. It is our purpose to put a focus on Biblical teaching and preaching with the goal of becoming more equipped disciples of Christ.
4. How do people normally dress? Come as you are: Wear whatever is comfortable for you, grab a cup of coffee in our Fellowship Hall, and join us for worship.
Pastor Steve and his wife Angela are 2003 graduates of Missions University (formerly Baptist Bible College) in Springfield Missouri. Angela grew up in Middlebury at Faith. Steven was raised in Mason, Ohio were he attended Grace Baptist Church. Steven and Angela have four children (3 adult and 1 still in school) who are active in the ministries of Faith.
Faith Baptist Church of Middlebury was planted in 1972 by Pastor Michael Quirey and small group of adults. That small group meet weekly in the Middlebury Elementary School in the September of 1972. In 1974, they purchased a church building with the support of the First Baptist Church of Elkhart. The property was purchased from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and was located at 110 North Brown Street. Michael Quirey remained the pastor until 1976.
At that time, pastor Dale Silver was called to pastor the work for seven years; after which Brother Don Robinson accepted the pastorate for a year. In 1984, the church called Pastor Donald A. Chester on as their new pastor. He faithfully led and served the congregation for 32 years. Upon his retirement in January of 2017, the church voted to make Steven L. Yater the Associate Pastor of four years the Lead Pastor of Faith.
In June of 2017, the church building we meet in for almost 43 years was lost in a fire. However, the church, the body of believers in Christ lives on. We recognize the church building is a tool, but the church is the people. Through God’s Divine Providence He has provided for His flock. On the 5th of November 2017, the family of Faith held our first full Sunday service in our current facility located at 301 South Main Street still in the heart of Middlebury four blocks from the former location.
It is the desire of the members of faith to pursue an intimate walk with our Savior. To come to know Him more through sincere Bible Study and prayer. To share His love with other with the intent to be disciples that make disciples as we serve Him and fulfill the Great Commission to go into all the world and preach the Gospel.
